Hi, we’re Emily and Sharln—friends, artists, woodworkers, and founders of Shark Studios Art. What started as a love for painting evolved into something unexpected but incredibly fulfilling: handcrafting meaningful pieces of art with a scroll saw and a slab of wood.
At Shark Studios, every item is made by hand—no lasers, no mass production—just authentic craftsmanship with heart. Our journey into woodworking began as a hobby, creating gifts for family and friends. But as the requests kept coming, we realized there was something special in turning stories into wood—whether it was a baby’s name sign, a custom business logo, or a thoughtful housewarming gift.
Now, from our shop in Raleigh, NC, we work to bring warmth and personality into your spaces through truly custom designs.

So we are Shark Studios Art. Emily (left) and Sharln (right) started Shark Studios Art in 2018.
Our business started with paintings, which evolved into painting wood signs. But that wasn’t enough - we love a challenge. We found some amazing makers who were using a scroll saw to make their art. Never backing down from any new idea we decided that was for us. We are both proud to call ourselves scroll saw artists.
What do we do when we’re not covered in sawdust and searching the shelves at the lumberyard?
Emily is a children’s minister at a local church. Sharln is a commercial property manager. Is Shark Studios Art our side gig? I think maybe our day jobs are our side gigs!
