hi.

Welcome to Shark Studios Art!

We (Emily and Sharln) are two friends who fell in love with woodworking!

We are scroll saw artists.

What does that even mean? Well, it means we create beautiful and intricate art out of wood using a scroll saw. Every single thing we make is made by hand. We do not use lasers or CNC machines. Really, we’re sculptors out of wood.

Look around on our website, there’s a lot here.

If you have an idea in mind, don’t hesitate to speak up. We’re game for just about anything. We are always making new things, stop by often to check it out.

Hey there. This is us.

So we are Shark Studios Art. Emily (left) and Sharln (right) started Shark Studios Art in 2018. What started as painting just for fun has turned into quite a business! We started our creative journey with watercolors. We both still paint now and then when we need to get our creative juices flowing. We began to paint wood signs. We built our business on painted wood signs. But that wasn’t enough - we love a challenge. We found some amazing makers who were using a scroll saw to make their art. Never backing down from any new idea we decided that was for us. We are both proud to call ourselves scroll saw artists.

What do we do when we’re not covered in sawdust and searching the shelves at the lumberyard?

Emily is a children’s minister at a local church. Sharln is a commercial property manager. Is Shark Studios Art our side gig? I think maybe our day jobs are our side gigs!

Although we are both proud North Carolinians, this picture of us in Arkansas is pretty special to us. We’re standing just before the Helena bridge over the Mississippi River. Helena, Arkansas is a special place in our hearts. Our church, along with many other churches, partner with Together for Hope Arkansas and lead a two-week long swim camp for the kids in Helena. Swim camp sounds pretty fun, right? It is, but it is also so important to the kids there. Helena is located in Phillips County, AR. It is the 6th poorest county in the United States. The kids in this town know nothing but poverty. The region has an agriculture-based economy, high poverty, and high illiteracy rates. Together for Hope Arkansas is a long-term commitment to working with the residents of Philips County in order to affect change and break the cycle of economic disparity.
